On every corner, every street
So many people that we’ll never meet
We should be asking if they’re alright
But in a world of proud conceit
Helping others has taken a back seat
Our main view is sadly our own plight
Cleaning house and mowing yards
Mortgage loans and credit cards
We’ve lost our way, mired in the day-to-day
We should believe He can change our lives
He showed us how we ought to live
We have all received God’s blessing
For we are all blessed to give
We say we’ll help at a later date
Making time will have to wait
But just how long will that be?
Mundane tasks can fill the plate
Let’s simplify before it’s too late
Think of more than just you and me
Check the schedule, begin to revise
Streamline and organize
Charity has never had priority
Let us believe He can change our lives
He showed us how we ought to live
We have all received God’s blessing
For we are all blessed to give
Giving can serve as its own reward
So we should give all we can afford
Let every selfless act strike a chord
Humility will lead us to tranquility
Then we will see He has changed our lives
He showed us how we ought to live
We have all received God’s blessing
For we are all blessed to give
